You have two options to get a business visa: open a representative office or be a board member of an existing Italian company.
If you have a foreign business, you can establish a branch or a representative office in Italy. An Italian Business Visa allows you to relocate to Italy to run the Italian office. This move does not have any adverse tax consequences on the company side as representative offices or branches are usually not required to profit in Italy. If you do not have a foreign business, you may still become a managing director of an Italian based company that has been active for at least three years. The total time to get residency is about 3-6 months. You receive a one-year residence permit that can be renewed every year. After 5 years, you can apply for permanent residency and after 10 years for Italian citizenship. You can include your family members as well.
Elective Visa
This option is also known as a retirement visa. To be eligible, you should have a stable passive income of at least 30,000 euro/year, such as:
- Pension
- Financial income
- Royalties
- Dividends
- Interests
- Rentals.
